Winter Is.....

Dewey Weber Surfboard Made in the USA
This weather appears to have people interchanging their boards and suits.  Did you experience the odd shift in weather last week?  The north and south mirrored each other in weather conditions.  The east and west competed to have the same temperature conditions.

Winter signifies a moment of peace.  I know that having to deal with the headaches that snow causes does not represent peace.  However, winter begins just before Christmas.  What a great time to mark the beginning of a season.  Then the new year brings about an opportunity to take inventory of what is important to me.  I spend the rest of the year reflecting on what I want to change, improve and compliment myself on doing well.  Hey, we can change a lot of things about ourselves.  We can also take the opportunity to like something about ourselves too.  Who says you can't do that?

I keep telling myself that I want to learn how to surf water and snow.  My brother-in-law was an avid surfer and the description that his friend used about it stayed with me.  He made surfing sound ethereal.  My other brother-in-law laughs when I tell him I want to snowboard.  I'm not sure what that means and I'm almost afraid to ask.

Have you done either or both?  Please share with me your experiences.  Do you have equipment that you prefer?  What advice do you have for me?  I would really appreciate any words of encouragement that you may have.

  1. Not that I live near and ocean, but I'm too terrified to surf because of the sharks. No thanks!

  2. Hi Meredith,
I'm afraid of all of the above - sharks, drowning, avalanches, etc. I figured maybe this was a good way to face those fears head on. Hey, I don't like pain and I chose ot give birth naturally. What riding a wave gonna do for me?
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. It is always good to hear from you.
