5 Simple Ways To Feel Better

1. Brush your teeth.
A simple benefit is this: Have you ever spoken to someone who hasn't brushed their teeth?  A clean mouth tastes better, smells better and looks better (no food in between your teeth).  Hence, a better conversation.  Besides, don't you just feel better with a clean mouth?

Another benefit could be weight loss.  Have you ever tried eating something right after brushing your teeth?  It just doesn't taste as well.

My midwife told me at a recent appointment to make sure to keep up with my dental cleanings and appointments.  She said that gingivitis can cause premature labor during pregnancy

2. Drink 1-2 cups of water when you wake up.
More than half of our bodies are comprised of water.  Newborns can have as much as 75%.  Because we can lose fluids in our sleep, such as sweating, hydrating upon awaking (and throughout the day actually) can help with your energy level.

3. Spray some perfume or a favorite scent.

It is a known fact that smell affects usHave you ever smelled something that struck a memory?  Think about a newly-cleaned house versus a newly-filled diaper.  Each scent conjures up a different feeling.  Sometimes a subtle smell can make you feel better.

4. Read and/or reflect on something inspirational.

What you put in your mind is what you put in your heart.  Putting something positive in your mind can create a happier you and sometimes that can create a pay-it-forward attitude.  You have a positive outlook and therefore portray that in your actions and with your words.  This, in turn, causes good things to happen in your life.

5. Do something good for yourself.

We all need a moment for ourselves.  Eat a slice of cheesecake.  Volunteer at your favorite charity.  Take a bubble bath.  Start a collection for a local food or clothing bank.  Get together with friends.  It's always great to get together with friends, even if it's Tuesday.  Who really needs an occasion?  Doing something good for yourself may sometimes seem selfish, but it is necessary.
